The art object is a woodcut print depicting a tree that primarily takes up most of the composition. This print is a multiple block woodcut registered with a light reddish brown woodprint background showing the pronounced grain of the block running horizontally. A red circle representing the sun, low in the sky in the right central part of the composition is printed over the brown block. A solid gray block is printed to show the color of the massive trunk of the knotty, gnarled old tree that dominates the composition. A black key block unites and dominates the image with bold textural marks on the tree trunk, delineation of braches of the large central tree, as well as showing trees on the left and right in the background above the snow covered white foreground. The large tree breaks through the center bottom of the picture frame (image edge). The title (on the left) and signature (on the right) are signed in graphite beneath the image. The print has no markings regarding edition.
