The Parable of the Sower

Dublin Core

Subject

This is a bronze cast of a large hand that is spreading seeds across plowed land with a cross in the background.

Description

The hand is a right hand. There are over three dozen distinct seeds; though they are coming down from the palm onto the fingers onto the ground, more than half of those are still in the hand. Other smaller seeds lay to the right of the hand. Three plants with two leaves each grow in front of the cross. Their leaves cross over each other. The actual relief is over a small plaque with words giving information about the author. It says "In Memorium of Anna J. Jordahl; Librarian at Concordia 1939-1973 in loving memory, The Jordahl Family" Below those words is the Parable of the Sower, Matthew 13:3-8. They are both on the same piece of black formica.
