<text>Notes: Alicia Hauff artist story: A natural scientist and explorer, I have always studied the world around me with an insatiable curiosity. I am highly driven to get to the roots of things, make connections, gain insight to share, and truly see things as they are in all their nuance.

I am a foraging curator, noticing the subtle color variations, textures, lines, and movements around me. I gently collect what I find--botanicals, fodder for ink, ideas, aesthetics, and play around until I find the spark of the next idea. I see my creativity as an act of reciprocity with the beauty all around me.

Mixed media means it's all on the table, and I never get bored. I keep it fresh living for the adventure of daily life. I do not question the journey here; I live in gratitude for it daily.

When I’m not painting, you’ll find me tending to all of the creatures in my life with my partner, including three sons, an Aussidoodle named Louie, houseplants, and gardens.</text>

<text>Notes: Native American artist Anna Johnson seeks to bridge the gap between the world she lives in and the culture she came from. Originally from Bismarck, she is an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians and has lived most of her life in North Dakota. She received her BFA in printmaking and drawing from NDSU and has been creating art in Fargo- and across the state- ever since.
Anna is driven to create art that expresses themes such as social injustice, religion and spirituality, and issues that Native Americans, women, LGBTQ+ and people everywhere face.
Anna seeks opportunities to connect with her community through participating in artist in residency programs, teaching printmaking classes, being a vendor at the annual Native American arts and crafts festival at the Plains Art Museum and by contributing to public art projects such as the Greetings from Fargo mural downtown. She worked with Native American school children to create locker murals at their schools and painted The Moon Also Rises mural on the side of Bernie’s Liquor in Fargo. Several other pieces of her work are featured downtown on utility boxes.
Anna serves on the City of Fargo’s Arts & Culture Commission, is the Executive Director of the non-profit group The Human Family, is on the board of The Arts Partnership and recently joined the board of Stonewall Sports, a LGBTQ+ sports group. She is also a tandem truck driver at Aggregate Industries.

From Norm Holen:
I was a professor of art for 40 years, 38 of which were at Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, in 1959, and my Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, in 1962. I am also a professor emeritus at Augsburg University.

I have created sculpture, drawings, and pottery and have been in numerous exhibitions in various venues, including a one-person exhibitions in the Kresge Gallery at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and group shows at the National Gallery in Washington, D.C., and the Port of History Museum in Philadelphia. I have participated in a great number of competitive exhibitions and have won national and international awards. I have judged many state and national shows.

I have written a series of articles in art magazines such as the International Sculpture Magazine, the Artist’s Magazine, American Artist, Clay Times, and Pottery Making Illustrated. My work is also seen in books such as the National Sculpture Society Celebrates the Figure by Jean Henry, Sculpture: Technique, Form, Content by Arthur Williams, and the Sculpture Reference by Arthur Williams. I am in several biographical books including Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Art, and Outstanding Educators of America. I also received the Alumni Achievement Award from Concordia College in 1985

My memoir, “Holen Chronicle,” data, and images of my art pieces are included in the archives of the Minnesota Historical Society, St. Paul, MN, the Red River Valley Genealogical Society in Fargo, ND, and the Norwegian American Genealogical Center in Madison, Wisc. The Minnesota Historical Society also has my poem book, “Circle of Feathers,” and two of my tools and splints that my physically challenged students used in my art classes at Augsburg University.</text>
