Adding depth to the colors, are hues of purple in curvy pieces of glass that are intermixed with circular bulbs of orange. Below that, are hues of blue that curve around a cross and frame the head of the white dove. Surroing the dove, with its wings fully deployed, are colors of cobalt, plum, lavendar, and light blue. There is a set of outstretched hands in hues of brown. Below the right hand, are waves of blue and below the left hand, are rolling plains in hues of green.

David Hetland was born in 1947 in Fargo, North Dakota. He studied under Cyrus M. Running while he was a student at Concordia College before graduating in 1969. In 1965, he took over design and creation of the Concordia College Christmas Concert murals and completely took over the role of designer in 1975. Some of Hetland's works are internationally known such as the Jerusalem Cross that was commissioned by the ELCA and presented to Pope John Paul II. Another of his mosaics hangs in the entrance of the ELCA's churchwide offices in Chicago. At Concordia, he designed the president's medallion in 1980 and is also known for a mosaic mural in the library. David Hetland died on April 16th, 2006.</text>
