The art object is an oil on canvas painting that depicts figures climbing up a hill. On the left side of the composition, some figures are climbing a stairlike building. In the middle, and spanning to the right, other figures are climbing a hill, with the help pulling one another to safety. The nature of the brushstrokes are painterly and emphasize a gestural quality. The painting is done in soft and muted hues of gold, tan, purple, green, milky pink, and cream.
