Title

Subject

This image is a watercolor and ink image of a farmstead in the distant center of the composition in a brown wood frame.

Description

A farmstead hides in the distant center of this image behind shelterbelts of trees and bushes. A zig-zagging pathway of open areas on the ground, a fenceline, and trees and shrubs pull the viewer from the natural foreground back to the farm. The foreground is dominated by the trees just to the left of the center and a vigorously textured grassy ground plane. A gray colored watercolor wash establishes the ground and the deeper space behind distant trees. Rust colored washes highlight a few trees and shrubs as well as the left edge of the composition. The signature in the lower right quadrant shows Cyrus Running in clean caps, done in black ink.
