The art object is a watercolor and ink image with farmstead and town in the distance in a brown wood frame. This is a rural scene depicting a farmstead on the left and a town in the distance on the right. The sky is pale blue and white, it appears to be slightly overcast and cool. The fields in the foreground have been harvested and the windrows/tailings/leftover chaff appear as lines that show the gently rolling contours of the farmland. The fields are warm colors from orange to ochre hues that dominate the ground plane. The farmstead includes a number of vertically sided buildings; a tall gold house with a gray addition, a red barn, a plain white barn, a gray silo, a long gray barn and some small outbuildings. A tall tree on a green mound divides the space between the farm on the left and the town on the deep space on the right. The town is accented by the white church and its red roof and steeple. There are houses of various colors peeking through the shelterbelts between the town and the viewer. The pen work is sometimes gestural but mainly done in carefully measured areas of hatching and cross-hatching.
