Beneath the Colors

Dublin Core

Subject

Many strokes and colors create an abstract pattern in this oil painting. Many colors are shown in arching sweeps in this piece, creating the illusion of moving, colored lights.

Description

This is an abstract piece. Reds, oranges, yellows, greens, purples, browns, and white are the main colors. There are also some blues, grays, and tans, as well as bits of blacks. The top two-thirds of this painting have strokes that, while curved, travel more vertically than horizontally. The strokes towards the bottom, also curved, are more horizontal than vertical. The patches of color tend to be crescent or branching in shape. They run over each other, interrupt each other, flow together, encircle and hug one another. The background of the piece is done in a dark black.
