Description

This is a bronze relief sculpture of Hans Neilsen Hauge mounted on a large granite obselisk with 4 posts. Beneath the relief of Hauge is an inscription in the obelisk that says, in Norwegian "Giv Din Kirke Maend og Faedre; Som er Dig og Sandhed Tro; Hans Neilsen Hauge; Reformator I Den Norske Kirke; FODT 1771, DOD 1824; Nordmaend I Amerika Reiste; Ham Dette Minde; 1912". On the base of the obelisk is a bronze plaque with the english translation of the enscription. It says "Give thy church men and fathers who are faithful to thee and the truth. Hans Neilsen Hauge; A reformer in the Norwegian church; Born in 1771, Died in 1824; The Norwegians in America have raised this memorial for him."
