During a large celebration in Fergus Falls, observing the end of the war, Beck met 16-year-old Joyce Hagge, who would eventually become his wife. They married at "Bethlehem Lutheran church in Fergus Falls on September 5th, 1948” [1]. They had their first son, Karl, in 1950. Their second child, Carolyn, was born in 1952, and their third, Paul, in 1963. “The 94-year-old artist died Tuesday night, Sept. 12, in Fergus Falls, a town that benefited from his work and presence” [2].
