This piece is a photograph in landscape orientation depicting a strip mine on the Iron Range. The bottom 1/3 of the image is a forest of trees with a road and powerlines running through it from the bottom left to the right. Right in the middle of the image, on the right of the photograph, is a lake that is surrounded by completely bare hills. The hills extend into the distance to the top 1/3 of the image where it meets a foggy and gray sky. The hills are all strip-mind and bare of any vegetation.
