This piece is watercolor and pen and ink is an abstract drawing built on a mainly grid-like composition. The ground of greens, warm grays, and white is beneath a partially hatched, and cross-hatched layer of images. A combination of rectangles, pod shapes, along with an orange knife shape, and two other orange shapes break up and balance the grid. The artists signature and date of 1959 are printed in tiny print in the lower left green rectangle.
